Ludacris, the King of the South

Ludacris has always been one of the most entertaining rappers to watch. He always uses some type of crazy form of expression when he rhymes. Ludacris released his first studio album “Back for the First Time” in 2000, which went platinum. This album featured one of Ludacris’s biggest records to date, “Southern Hospitality.” Ludacris was originally signed to Universal Records, but he shortly branched off to form his own record label called “Disturbing the Peace” a.k.a DTP Records.” He has signed 14 artists to DTP Records so far, including R’n’B singer Bobby Valentino. Not only is Ludacris musically talented, but he is also  a great actor. Many people can recognize him from the popular movie “Fast and Furious,” which he also gained alot of success from. Despite, his movie success, he is currently focusing on his music. He is set to release a new album in early 2013 called “Ludaversal” featuring the single “Representing.”

Miguel, The New Kid on the Block

Miguel is a newcomer in the R’n’B industry. He was signed to Jive Records in 2007, but he didn’t hit mainstream until November 2010 when he released his first studio album “All I Want Is You.” Not only was his album called “All I Want Is You” but so was his first single off the album. His first album did poor because it was under promoted. However, his single “All I Want Is You” was a major hit on the radio. Based on the poor outcome of his first album, Miguel decided to part ways with Jive Records. In 2011 he signed to RCA Records. He was able to gain much more success with RCA Records. He had three #1 singles on the billboard charts in 2011, in correlation to his new record label. Miguel has just released a new album called “Kaleidoscope Dream” on October 2, 2012. This album features his single “Do You” and his most popular single “Adorn.” With the popularity of the song “Adorn”, his album “Kaleidoscope Dream” continues to climb up the charts.

Ciara: Against All Odds

Ciara is most known overall for her extreme dance ability. Her talent as both a singer and a dancer was first evident in 2006 when she released her first single “Goodies” off of her first album “Goodies.” Her first album went multi-platinum. Along with her first studio album “Goodie”, she has released a total of four albums which also include “The Evolution”, “Fantasy Ride,” and “Basic Instinct.” Her album “Basic Instinct” which was released on December 10, 2010 did not do well. It had extremely low record sales. Ciara decided to take a break from music to try to reinvent herself. Some people thought that she would never be able to make a return to the music industry. Presently, in 2012 she has silenced her critics. Her single “Sorry” off of her upcoming album “One Woman Only” has been #1 on the music charts for weeks. By the looks of things, Ciara’s “One Woman Only” album which is set to be released some time in 2013 will be a complete success!

Wiz Khalifa: Taylor Gang’s General

Wiz Khalifa is a 6’4 rapper from Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Most people say that Wiz Khalifa reminds them of hip hop pioneer Snoop Dog, because of his height and style. Although Wiz Khalifa is from Pittsburg, he has a California swag. Wiz Khalifa has drawn a lot of attention with his hairstyle. He has a wild black curly top with a blond streak in the front like Cruella Deville. That’s quite an unusual hairstyle for a rapper. Wiz Khalifa is most famous for rapping about smoking weed as well as doing it. He has released three studio albums, “Show and Prove”, Deal or No Deal”, and “Rolling Papers.” He is releasing his fourth studio album “O.N.I.F.C” on December 4, 2012. This album features the song “Remember You.” I think this album will be a great purchase!

Kelly Rowland: Her Own Superstar

For years, Kelly Rowland has been in the shadow of mega superstar Beyoncé Knowles. She started out singing in a group called Destiny’s Child, which initially had four members. The group was led by Beyoncé Knowles, whose father managed the group. Latoya and LaTavia, who were members of the group alongside Kelly and Beyoncé, complained about Beyoncé getting favoritism and decided to leave the group. This left Beyoncé and Kelly by themselves until they eventually found their third member Michelle Williams. With Destiny’s Child only having three members, Beyoncé was still placed front and center. Although Kelly was not the head of the group, her talents did not go unnoticed. Arguably, some people would say that Kelly was prettier and could sing better than Beyoncé. After being a member of Destiny’s child since the age of 11, Kelly finally decided to branch off on her own after 19 years. At the age of 29 is when Kelly really began to pursue her career as a solo artist. In 2011, Kelly released first single “Motivation” off of her first solo album “Here I Am.” The single was the #1 hip-hop and R’n’B record all around the world. This caused Kelly to gain an abundance of popularity and fans. Currently, today in 2012 she is working on a new album featuring her new single “Ice!”

Fabolous: The Soul Man

In the hip-hop industry, rapper Fabolous is known as the gangster and the gentleman. One day he might be rapping about being from the hood and selling drugs, and the next day he might be rapping about taking a beautiful woman out to dinner. It’s all apart of this Brooklyn native’s style. He was first put on the map by the hip-hop mogul and mix-tape king Dj Clue. After Dj Clue realized how much Fabolous has; he signed him to his record label Desert Storm. That’s all Fabolous needed to jump start his career. Currently to date in 2012, Fabolous has released 10 albums. His two most popular albums are The Soul Tape 1 which was released in November 2011 and The Soul Tape 2 which was released in November 2012.
